100 in 3: South Africa’s plan to increase its number of industrialists.

R100 Billion is the amount that South Africa’s government has allocated to increase the number of industrialists in the country. Given that presently the levels of black owned entity participation on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) stands at 3%, the government is hopeful that 100 new black industrialists will be created in 3 years as a result of amongst other measures, its policy and economic intervention. Tshepiso Makwetla spoke to South Africa’s Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mzwandile Masina on the ambitious plan and the measures that will be taken to circumvent the previous unintended consequences of previous Black Economic Empowerment policy.
