Tebogo Ditshego is no ordinary young South African. He has an incredible passion for literature and a drive to see Africa’s youth immerse themselves in books. Tebogo told SANtv’s Lwando Notshe why he despises the perception that Black people don’t read. In fact he says that is what pushed him to found Read A Book SA, which has now become Africa’s biggest online book club. This online platform allows over 30 000 followers to engage and share their mini book reviews.
This determination has catapulted him into the covers of leading global publications. He has featured in Forbes Magazine’s top 30 African entrepreneurs under 30 years. Early this year he published his first African fiction book titled Kasi Nerd, which has notched up a bestseller status. Tebogo has addressed the Global Entrepreneurship Summit speaking alongside US Vice President Joe Biden. He’s also been listed in the Mail & Guardian newspaper’s top 200 youth in South Africa. His creativity also saw him work on the “Mandela” banknotes campaign for the South African Reserve Bank.
