Women, NOT soldiers, are greatest casualties of war.

Women and children have long been the casualties of war in more ways than one. With the number of civilians killed during wars increasing since World War 2 and Africa finding itself the home of most of the conflict, a renewed effort to address the issue of women in conflict areas is doing the rounds from Hollywood, to the Palace of Westminster.

Now with renewed vigour than before, the role and treatment of women in areas of conflict is being tabled at as priority issue at global summits and conferences, South Africa being no exception. UN Humanitarian and Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, Bineta Diop and Former UK Foreign Minister William Hague were amongst  the delegates at the 25th AU Summit which took place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
